AMIR KHAN
BOXER |
 |
Bolton’s Amir Khan won the hearts of the nation at the Athens Olympics in 2004 – at 17 he was the UK’s only boxer at the Olympics and the youngest Olympic boxer since 1976. Amir began boxing at eight and has fought competitively from the age of 11. Returning with a silver medal and having become a household name overnight, Amir’s feet are firmly on the ground and having turned 18 in December he is now pursuing his sport studies in Bolton while continuing to box. Amir has been likened to the young Muhammad Ali, and he cites the famous ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ of 1974 as his own favourite fight.
