Professor Shahina Pardhan was the 1st female professor of Optometry in the UK. She has authored well over 100 scientific research outputs and has publications both Nationally & Internationally in the field of Optometry. Her research has been incorporated in many publications and learning resources throughout the world. In 2001, she led a team of Optometrists to the remote areas of Northern Pakistan in Hunza & Gilgit to conduct charity eye camps. The group examined well over 1500 patients in eight days and provided eye care in the form of medicine & prescription glasses to people who, in some cases, had been blind for years. In addition, the group built a purpose built laboratory in Hunza to manufacture spectacles.
