Sima has published many papers, presented at many international conferences and workshops, and some of the techniques she has developed have now been incorporated into NASA's routine orbit determination software. Her current role is as a Space Mission Scientist in the Space Department of QinetiQ, based in the UK, where she has worked on the UK Earth-Observation satellite TopSat and on projects designing European Space Agency missions to Asteroids and Jupiter. During her PhD, she won the Amelia Earhart Fellowship, a worldwide award for outstanding women in aerospace related graduate studies. She was also awarded the Institute of Navigation (ION) student prize in 2004 and was invited to present at their annual international conference in Long Beach, California. She was also awarded the ION best paper and best presentation award over the course of her PhD.
