DR SYED ABIDI

Dr Syed Abidi is a qualified medical doctor who is currently working as a health promotion specialist in the voluntary sector. He has undertaken voluntary work as a language consultant for the benefit of the BME community. In February 2000, he became the author of the UK's first ever Urdu healthcare book and was approved by the DoH for national circulation in the UK. In 2002 he published the first ever bilingual healthcare book, "Prevention is always better than a cure" and this has once again been widely published across the UK. Since 2003 he has been serving as coordinator of the only nationally registered health awareness trust in the UK: British Health Awareness Foundation. In recognition of his work in pioneering ethnic healthcare education Dr Abidi was selected for the Queens Awards for voluntary service.
