Robina has given 13 years to public service; most of this is within the NHS and the Magistracy and the University of Manchester. Her First NHS public appointment was to Greater Manchester Ambulance Service NHS Trust in 1993, at 31 Robina was the youngest woman at the time when few women were appointed to NHS trust boards and also one of a very few who were also from an ethnic minority. In 2000 Robina was appointed as chairman of Stockport NHS Trust later to become one of the first wave Foundation Trust Hospitals in the NHS in 2004. She was appointed to the Manchester City Magistrates Bench in 1994. In 2002 she was appointed to the University of Manchester Court and Council. Later she was also appointed to the New University of Manchester Board of Governors.

Robina was awarded the MBE in 2003 for services to disabled children and received the commission of Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester and Lancashire on April 28th 2006.
