From funding his way through university and his barrister apprenticeship, to becoming Director of Legal Practice and Quality Assurance for London's Crown Prosecution Service, he has become one of only a few high ranking civil servants from a BME background in the CPS. As head of the CPS European and International Division he developed policy on extradition issues, the European Arrest Warrant and the International Criminal Court.
